I hired H&R Block's international specialist to file my taxes from 2016 for several years. I thought people here were the experts but I was very, very wrong. I recently found out that they made a mistake since 2016 and I face potentially $10k/year penalty. I let my Block Advisor know about this the first place, but all she recommended was amending the prior years. I was surprised that she did not know about the Streamlined Procedures. She also did not know about some basic cross-broader tax laws that make taxation different in different countries. More recently, she stopped answering my calls or replying to my emails.

I since talked to a CPA and a tax lawyer. The lawyer informed me amending prior 3 years will automatically trigger $30k penalty for the 3 years. I could argue for "reasonable cause", but the bar has gone very high in recent years for reasonable cause, and this battle will now take a very long time. This is totally inconsistent with what the Block Advisor told me when she said reasonable cause is a good argument for me.

I'm now reaching out to the Congressman and two Senators in the state of Colorado. I don't know what is waiting ahead of me. I don't know what my life will become. This is all because I naively thought people here were the experts. I paid for years for the service, but now I'm not only deeply distressed, heart broken, sleep deprived, I'm also paying for hiring the CPA, and lost hours of work.

I am a law-abiding citizen. This situation is causing me great mental distress during this time. I would not recommend my worst enemy to use the service here as I've lost countless hours when I can live my life like a normal person.

Veronica did my wife and I taxes last Saturday February the 6th and Veronica did a very poor job on both our taxes. First of all we both told her we was married and filing Separate but she insisted on putting Single for our filing status. I was filing 1099 so I brought in all my mileage for 2020 but she Refused to used just my mileage for expenses and she persisted on adding up all these separate expenses which came out much less deductions than just simply using my mileage for expenses, which I ended up having to pay the IRS much more than I've Ever paid. We did go through the whole process with her but when we got home we noticed that Veronica was incompetent as we looked at all our previous taxes. The next day Sunday February 7th we went back to Block Advisors soon as they opened and we wrote a note telling the manager and the front desk lady to Do Not summit our taxes and we gave all the paperwork back plus we spoke to the Manager name Carolina and we expressed to Carolina that we was very displeased with their service and that we wanted our money back which I paid $340.00 and my wife paid $59.00. Carolina told us their corporate office already got pur money but Carolina ensured us that we would receive our cash back soon as their corporate office send it to us which takes around 2 weeks. Also my wife called Carolina yesterday to do a follow up and some lady took a message and she claimed that Carolina would call us back at 7pm but Carolina Failed to return our call back. We do Not trust this tax office because they're way over priced plus it seems like they are trying to give the IRS more money and they're Not in the best interest of the client. We want our money back and we also went a divorce from Block Advisors. I Do Not recommend Anyone to do business here. Thanks
