My husband and I lived in a cute little townhouse managed by Scott, we absolutely loved it! When we had any maintenance issues, they were quick to get it scheduled and resolved. We just purchased a new home and had to break our lease early and Scott made it very easy to do! We truly enjoyed living there!

I lived in a house managed by Scott for over two years and it was one of the worst experiences my roommates and I had ever had. We had to report him to THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. We had mold that we had to hire someone to find and it took Scott MONTHS to hire someone to deal with it and even though he is legally required to reimburse me, he gave me back less than a third I paid for the testing. There was also mold growing in the shower he never took care of. The maintenance came to fix our toilet twice and they made it worse every time. We ended up with a toilet handle that we had to pull up rather than push down bc they got a handle for the wrong side. They came and pulled tree limbs off the roof of the house after ice storms and then just left huge limbs in the yard for us to try and break apart and get rid of ourselves or mow around The neighbor even called the person they know as the owner of the house to tell him about issues he saw with the property management. Scott lied about our deposit and didn’t give us a detailed receipt and tell us our deposit was available for FIVE MONTHS after we moved out and after my roommate reported him to the better business bureau. The original deposit he wanted to give us was a fraction and when we asked for a receipt he said HE HADNT EVEN LOOKED AT IT YET. When I asked for responses from him, I eventually had to start quoting Texas state rental laws to tell him all the ones he was breaking.

Home owners— DO NOT USE HIM TO RENT YOUR HOUSE. It will devalue your house and your neighborhood and you do not want your tenants experiencing these kinds of law infractions from their property manager. I cannot say enough about how poor Scott is at his job. I know how bad this experience is now after moving to a different house and having a different property management company.

Horrible company to work with , Landlord who name is Scott McManus communication skills are very poor . When I signed my lease in 2021 of December I moved in “AS IS” , where the property was filthy and multiple things were damaged and left from previous tenants. him and his maintenance company were supposed to be fixing things while I was Living there that never happened . I moved out 5-31-24 and he is trying to charge me 2500 for damages that were already caused inside the property . I have pictures and videos of when I moved into the property how it looked & even after from when he stated he “cleaned” and nothing is FIXED Evan being able to dispute these charges ! This is INSANE , do not go with this company .

I rented a home with Captex for a little over 2 years when I moved to Austin. I had nothing but a great experience with them. Very reasonable and responsible to their tenants. The home was clean upon move in and all request made were handled promptly. They also always provided very favorable terms for resigning a lease and did not raise rents extremely high as every other company seemed to be doing.
