I've had to deal with them for 3 years with many issues and lack of communication, fees that didn't make sense, etc and today I went in to pay the rest of what I owed on my rent according to what my account portal app said. After I paid I was told we actually owe $110 more but "they don't post late fees till you come in" except my husband and I HAVE been in, and called, and emailed and was not once notified of these extra late fees. So now we will have even MORE fees because Key Property can't even be honest about what people owe up front. They enjoy screwing people over from what it seems.

Definition of a slum lord . They took over my property last year from Redman ( amazing people ) did absolutely nothing about ANYTHING. I had no hot water , a horrible rodent issue mine you this was a duplex home and when my neighbor moved out which Is crazy because she loved her home and lived there almost 5 years
Within a 6month period of Key property taking over and the rude staff she left ! they evicted me because I refused to pay them ( mind you I HAD THE $$ ) But going months on the same issues that only got worse and worse , your damn right I was not gonna pay them a dime until they made sure my home was safe for me and at the time my ( under one year child ! )
When winter hit , the old AC/heater system went out and you would have to continue to relit the pilot again and again after 5 mins. Or a slight gus of wind you would be out of luck. My home reached 25 degrees and me and my child spent her first Christmas in a hotel. When I notified them on the emergency line they chose to ignore me and leave us in the horrible condition then CAME INSIDE my house while I was at work and left the eviction notice on my couch. That same furance eventually LITERALLY blew fire and debri into my face making what I thought was an explosion noise . That was the absolute line for me ! So to sum them up, Runnnn! No matter how nice the house or apartment looks these people are HORRIBLE

Unfortunately they are currently managing our property. For 2023 alone we have had to fight to get our rent check for 3 months different months and still haven't gotten paid for June making that month 4. It's only July 5, and over half the year we haven't gotten paid in anything close to a timely manner. Can't wait to get away from this poorly ran property management company.

I highly recommend know one does business with this company! Pay extremely high rent for a house with no ac or heat, major plumbing problems to the point there is a whole sewage pool in the back yard because everything we flush pours out into the back yard, on top of a major Termite problem , and rat infestation. These people will not Fix anything no matter how many maintenance request you put in they still will not Fix it. I have never in my life dealt with a company and employees like this, they definitely are the definition of a slumlord. I am here to warn you now, take your hard working money and go to a professional Realtor.

During my stay at Jefferson Square apartments I received several notices of outstanding charges threatening eviction, with no prior communication.
A litany of those notices were received during the first year, and seemed to always come after I submitted another maintenance request for my broken oven; the thermostat had been out since I moved in and it took them over a year, between sending in their own maintenance staff who identified the problem to outside appliance repair contractors in an effort to determine if it'd be more cost effective to repair than replace.

The majority of the "fees" I was facing potential eviction over were due to the pest control company allegedly not having access to my apartment on days they were supposed to spray. The pest control guy even said his key didn't work; if I was at work, how am I supposed to have control over that? From there, the property managers alleged that I was using the interior lock to keep them out. I asked why I'd go through the trouble of securing my front door then somehow exiting the apartment either through the bedroom window or by climbing over the patio fence to leave for work those days.
Another such threat of eviction came because they couldn't see my blinds due to a curtain I'd hung over my west facing patio door. By their logic and lack of comprehension of object permanence, because they couldn't see it I must've taken the blinds down and faced eviction if I didn't pay for them to rehang the already hanging blinds "at their expense."

Meanwhile I made repeated complaints about my next door neighbor, whose girlfriends screams kept me up at 3 AM, in addition to him flying into fits of rage and smashing groceries outside their door, but no action was ever taken, despite me also contacting the police. A contractor hired to make that apartment ready for the next tenant told me that holes were smashed in most walls, and said neighbor had clearly punched and thrown things repeatedly causing damage.

I made arrangements to move elsewhere and had a mutual friend interested in taking over my lease, at which point the managers began to pick and choose parts of the lease agreement to apply to the situation, effectively trying to hold both myself and the person moving liable for not only the rent but any damages/repairs for the remainder of my lease plus hers.

The apartments themselves are sad, the carpet is worn and torn up, most of the doors are barely held together by whatever screws or tacks they've poorly painted over, the water heaters are inexplicably outside, causing problems during the winter, the only form of climate control comes from a window-mounted heat/AC unit screwed into a hole in the wall.

In short, run like hell.

The worst company you could ever rent from!!! DO NOT DO IT!!! We went a month without air conditioning. We were living in 88 degree temperatures for a month in the summer!! I called and emailed everyday to get it fixed. They don't follow their contracts that they get you to sign. Our contract states that they are suppose to provide any 3 bedroom home with three window units they gave us one 2 weeks after I told them our unit was broken.I can't believe how hateful and careless these people are. I have never known a company to have such a bad communication. They are so unprofessional they will sit there and argue with you and tell you that you are wrong. And on top of that we had an outlet go up in flame over the weekend so we called their emergency line multiple times and left a voicemail and no one ever got back with us. Our house could have burnt down and they didn't ever care. I HIGHLY recommend avoid renting from them at all costs!!!

I put a deposit down for a unit at the beginning of October. Two months later I still do not have a ready date. I have called weekly. I was told the apartment was under renovation but have driven by several times over the past two months and no one has been out working on it and the same broken blinds are still hanging. Every time I contact them I am told "oh well we still don't have an update." All this after they wouldn't rent the house I originally wanted from them bc they didn't want to fix the wood rot.

My whole living experience with key property was decent...they DID try to find anything and everything to charge me for, BUT luckily it was things that were already wrong with the apartment...so that issue was resolved...I paid rent on time..I paid bills on time..I cleaned the hell out of my apartment when I went to leave (that took a good 3 days)..I requested a walk through and the maintenance man showed up (which is fine). He made a comment that he “wished all the apartments looked like this when people left!” Needless to say, he was very impressed with how clean it was.
I just got my deposit slip back and they took my whole 350 deposit to clean and paint...and are also trying to charge me an extra 133! I got that on Saturday...and I’m a full time college student along with a full time job so in fairness, I haven’t gotten the chance to talk with them to attempt to clear it up (so this review is subject to change). But if this is not resolved I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT RENT FROM KEY PROPERTY...i feel like they have been trying to nickel and dime me from the start.

UPDATE: I talked with key property and they graciously did not charge me the $133...instead I received a check in the mail for $76...which is still a little short of what I figured I would get back. When I asked what some charges were for , the women (for the sake of not knowing her name) couldn’t even tell me why because she couldn’t find it in her notes. And I was told they would evaluate it and get back to me on it. I’m a full time college student so I’m just thankful I’m not being charged an arm and a leg. You can take what you want from this review. Again, my overall living experience was decent...but they do nickel and dime you. (This got changed from a 1star to a 2 star) I would probably do a 2 and half star if I could.
