Would not recommend. Make sure you record every conversation, or ask to see any notes written on your account. They will fabricate a reason to ring you for more money. Making me pay for an empty parking spot after acknowledging that I called to set up the removal, but denying I set up the cancelation. Why would I want to keep paying for an empty parking spot? Make it make sense.

I regret taking the advice from the town of Hermiston, Oregon, to avoid renting from Preferred Properties. I rented from them for three years without any late payments or complaints, only to move out of a unit left completely empty and be charged two separate full-service cleaning fees. During a meeting with the property manager, I was told the cleaning company they hired did a poor job, leading to the company firing them and cleaning the unit themselves. Despite this, I was still charged for the original cleaning company’s full fee as well as their own cleaning costs totaling to over $1000!

Additionally, I was charged for lawn care even though the backyard was filled with a 2-inch layer of dog waste when I first moved in—waste I had to clean myself. On top of that I was charged for the lawns to be mowed in the middle of winter, mid November!! We can’t forget lastly being charged for removing items I had never added to the home.

If this company is your only option, make sure to document everything thoroughly with photos and videos before moving in and after moving out. Unfortunately, this company operates unethically and takes advantage of its tenants

We took great care of our apartment and cleaned it very thoroughly before moving out. We did a walk through before handing the keys and the only thing that the employee pointed out that needed more cleaning was that there was dust in the air conditioning unit and that we didn’t sweep behind the refrigerator and behind the oven. Also the refrigerator door wouldn’t close all the way the whole time we lived there and we contacted preferred property 3 times and each time they would just say it was fixed and it really wasn’t. Anyways back to the cleaning fee, they charged us $552 for the cleaning fee at 65$ and hour. The lady even made a comment saying it shouldn’t take long to clean than proceeds to charge us for 8.5 hours of work. There is no way that it took more than an hour to clean behind the fridge and to clean out the dust in the AC unit.

I've been renting with them for about a year I've had no issues as long as your consistent with them and you notify them when your gonna be late on rent or something they're fine with it as long as u pay when you say you're going to! Dont bite off more than you can chew though the late fee is almost 100 so go for a cheaper place!

We DID NOT find them to be military friendly at all! We were warned by several other service members about renting from Preferred Property upon moving to Hermiston. There were no other rentals available that we could find, however, so we ended up renting from them. Positives: they did follow up on repairs in a timely manner and one of the ladies who worked at the front desk was courteous. As we had been warned and expected, in our opinion, they were dishonest upon move out in regards to our deposit. What a hassle that we are thankful to not ordinarily have to deal with as an Army family! I would never recommend renting from them! Just as a point of reference, I am including a photo. Along with being accused of leaving leaving the back porch “littered with cigarette butts” (no one in our house smokes, and our infant son played on the back porch daily. It is a common area that people regularly walk through. We have move out pictures showing that this was not the case and would never allow him to play with cigarette butts!), here is a photo of the toilet that we were accused of leaving with visible “pee” on it and an “inside [that] was not cleaned.” Um..It is our opinion that we were taken advantage of by Preferred Property because they believed that we would forfeit our deposit while moving out of state with the military, and we are very grateful to have lawyers through the military JAG offices available on base and in Oregon to advise us as to how to proceed. It is my opinion that you should be prepared for this situation when renting from Preferred Property.

I have been a renter for a few years now. They were more than amazing at getting me in. That may be this management as a whole, or just the best lady ever!! 😉 I can say the only issue I have had, aside from rising rent cost (which is Everywhere!) That I had to pay a small fee when I locked myself out and they rescued me. The issue with that is... I didn't want to have to pay for it 😊

They'll get you in there, forget about any maintenance, and keep your deposit in the end. Low rate high dollar save your money and rent elsewhere, anywhere.

Semi willing to work with people but really devastated my children when we found out that they decided we have to move out of our home of 6 years because my 1 yr old son makes our occupancy "too much". We just signed our lease renewal a few months ago. Never a late rent payment but it doesn't seem to matter. Always have a plan b in other words! 🙁 very nice properties and getting more expensive by the year.
