As an adult with ARFID and Anorexia, I have had countless bad experiences with dietitians and just before meeting Stef I had been written off by a treatment centers as a lost cause.
When I first called to inquire at Unrestricted Nutrition, I was desperate for someone to sit in the sh*t with me and help find a way out. Steph is absolutely the best dietician we have had in the 6 years my daughter has been very ill with anorexia. She is like a therapist and dietician in one. Amazing clinical skills, able to connect with my daughter in a way that really fostered trust. Also worked with my daughter and our family in a way that supported our unique challenges. We are so grateful for MaryRose's expertise, insight, and hard work on ARFID. We worked with MaryRose for about a year. She was supportive, understanding, and creative in working with a teen boy who has struggled with ARFID for many years. His diet was so limited he suffered from anemia and other nutritional deficiencies and had not hit his growth spurt. As an athlete, he knew he needed to learn to eat better. But as someone struggling with disordered eating, he didn't really know how to do it. MaryRose helped him try a variety of new foods that enabled him to improve his nutrition and gave him confidence to venture into more social spaces (restaurants/friends' houses) where he could confidently try something new and find something to eat that met his needs and preferences. She taught him how to calm his inner fears about food; how to tamp down his anxiety/fear about trying new foods, and overall helped him learn how to manage his ARFID. Amazing!

Stefanie was amazing in assisting in the treatment of my 12 year old daughter who was diagnosed with ARFID. She has gotten to a healthy weight for the first time in her life, and due to Stefanie noticing an issue with her chewing we now know that she missed an important developmental milestone which we now believe is the root cause of her resulting issues. Stefanie's assistance with diet (how to approach food/mealtime), as well as catching the missed milestone resulting in her now being in Occupational Therapy has truly been life-changing for us!
